Braces
Braces
Braces can offer amazing results to present the client with an even and lovely smile. In the process, the individual will gain the ability to better clean and maintain their teeth and to chew and speak better.
Traditional Braces (Orthodontics) Offered by Manotick Main Dental
Metal braces are still one of the more popular options for our clients. Unlike the old, clunky braces of the past, these are flatter and smaller. Braces are the solution for crooked teeth, overcrowding, jaw problems, and misaligned bites.
Phase I and Phase II Orthodontic Treatments
After a careful examination and consultation, if an individual is deemed a good candidate for orthodontics, our team will approach the procedure in two phases. Phase 1 is generally initiated when the child is between 6 and 10 years old. At that point they still have the majority of their primary teeth.
The object of Phase 1 is to prepare the mouth and jaw for permanent teeth and to improve the relationship between the upper and lower jaws if necessary. This can involve an active retainer or partial braces.
Phase 2 usually involves both upper and lower braces and focuses on having each tooth in its proper location and alignment for a proper bite and function. The age for this procedure will vary by child, and usually lasts about 24 months.
Are you looking for an orthodontist?
At Manotick Main Dental we do not require a referral for orthodontic work. We will arrange an appointment for a consultation and examination. Since we are both general dentists and orthodontists, you are able to take care of all your dental needs at this one location. There is no need to travel from one place to another. Our Ottawa family dentist is able to coordinate all the care for your whole family.
The details of each treatment and its duration will vary depending on the amount of correction necessary and the client’s specific situation. We personalize each treatment plan.
Options include traditional metal braces that include bands, wires, elastics and removal appliances. We also offer the Invisalign option, which is clear, removable aligners. Both options provide excellent results that allow you to perform most daily activities like eating and brushing. Our consultation appointment will review all of the options and you will have all the time necessary to make your final decision.
