What Are The Cases
Invisalign is designed to treat a wide range of dental problems from overcrowding to underbites and include simple misalignments as well as jaw issues.
This has two causes: continued growth of the jaw bone or missing teeth. Spaces between teeth can cause periodontal pockets and increased risk of gum disease.
This is when there is simply not enough room for all the teeth produced. This situation can result in an accumulation of plaque that cannot be reached in cleaning, tooth decay and gum disease.
If the upper and lower jaws are misaligned, some of the upper teeth bite to the inside of the lower teeth. This is most prominent in the front, but can also happen to the back teeth. This will result in abnormal wear, chipping, periodontal disease and possibly bone loss.
When the lower teeth protrude past the front teeth, this is called underbite. It can result in abnormal tooth wear and painful jaw or joint issues.
Overbite is the vertical positioning of the upper teeth to the lower teeth. This is frequently resulting from genetics or over development of the bone, and can lead to fractured front teeth.
